• Colleges & Universities

  • Whether you’re a recent high school graduate or an adult wishing to continue your education, you’ll find abundant opportunities for pursuing a college education in Lisle or within the immediate vicinity.

Located in Lisle, Benedictine University has been educating students for more than a century. A co-ed liberal arts college founded in 1901, the university enrolls around 3,200 students. The university’s 108-acre campus is home to a comprehensive science facility, an extensive library, residence halls, a state-of-the-art athletic center and a busy student center.

Benedictine University is ranked among the “Best Universities – Master’s” and is listed in the “Top 10 in the Midwest for Campus Diversity” for the second year in a row, according to the 2004 figures recently released by U.S. News & World Report.

The university offers liberal arts degrees, and many of its students choose to major in business, biological sciences, health and education. Other top-rated programs of study include nuclear medicine technology, psychology and international business.

Accelerated programs for adults, master degrees (business administration, public health, counseling psychology and education) and a doctoral program in organizational development are also offered.

Many Lisle college students, both teenagers and adults, take advantage of the affordable tuition and wide range of classes scheduled at the College of DuPage, a community college based at a 273-acre campus in nearby Glen Ellyn. The college offers associate degrees in business, humanities, horticulture, natural sciences, social/behavioral sciences and occupational and vocational education.

After completing their course requirements at the College of DuPage, students are fully trained in a trade or profession or prepared to transfer as juniors to a four-year college or university.

The college also staffs the College of DuPage Regional Center in Naperville. Located on Rickert Drive near Plainfield/Naperville Road and 75th Street, the center provides a range of classes, comfortable classrooms, computer labs and a Center for Independent Learning. The center also offers an Adult Fast Track program.

When they transfer, Lisle students still won’t need to travel far for a four-year degree. In addition to Benedictine University, Lisle residents are served by North Central College (Naperville), Wheaton College (Wheaton), Northern Illinois University (DeKalb) and Robert Morris College (Aurora). Only a train ride away, Chicago colleges and universities (such as DePaul University, Loyola University, University of Chicago, University of Illinois Chicago, Columbia College and the Illinois Institute of Technology) supply superior academic experiences for the college-bound.
