Arts & Entertainment
Lisle’s cultural avenues are rich, as it plays host to a calendar year of family-friendly entertainment through a number of community events.
In the summertime, the Lisle Community Band offers free concerts at Lisle Community Park. Guests are invited to relax and enjoy a variety of live musical entertainment. Additionally, the Lisle Park District offers several great events, including Movies in the Park after Dark, Concerts in the Park, Totally Tuesdays, the Annual Fishing Derby and the Meadows Center Penny Carnival.
During the Fourth of July weekend, Lisle hosts the Eyes to the Skies Festival, in which hot-air balloons dot the sky at morning and evening launches, and firework displays light up the night. A carnival, tasty dishes from local restaurants, an arts and craft fair, petting zoos, a free circus and renowned musical entertainment round out the offerings of this popular community celebration.
The Village keeps its residents and visitors busy in the fall with Depot Days, a historically themed weekend of events. Sponsored by the Lisle Heritage Society, the event commemorates the Village’s railroad heritage through historical entertainment, site tours, special exhibits, and demonstrations. Another fall event is the popular Downtown Lisle Trick or Treat event for children, held during the Halloween season.
And in winter, do not miss the Lights of Lisle Celebration. The festive event is comprised of a holiday tree lighting, featuring over 3,000 luminaries that set the downtown are and Lisle Station Park aglow. All of this is complemented by the wonderful sounds of carolers.
Lisle’s Benedictine University hosts a multitude of cultural events, including theater productions, musical performances, and educational programming. The institution also oversees the Jurica Nature Museum, a small natural history museum located on campus in the Michael and Kay Birck Hall of Science.
What’s more, Lisle has access to the McAninch Arts Center at the College of DuPage, located in nearby Glen Ellyn. The center offers a full schedule of performances throughout the year and houses several resident companies—New Philharmonic, DuPage Opera Theatre, Buffalo Theatre Ensemble, New Classic Singers and the Arts Center Jazz Ensemble.
